What we got up to at LightNight…

We had our first public event on Friday and were really pleased by how well it went. We were at the Bluecoat as part of Lightnight and had over 250 people come to visit us over the course of the night. There was lots of positive feedback and many stayed for quite a good length of time, visiting the different interactive stations that we had set up around the room and contributing to the project.

We had a couple of different stations devoted to sharing what we’d uncovered so far. This included bringing some of the maps we’d used in our mapping sessions. Visitors found historical food locations near to them and added in others that they remembered. We also had a listening station where people could hear some of the memories of local food that we’d been collecting.

We didn’t want the event to just be about the past though and so we had a couple of other stations where people could contribute their ideas for more local food in Liverpool in the future. Visitors added suggestions for where to start new local food projects to a local Liverpool map and also filled in ‘Local Food recipe cards’ with their suggestions for how to get more people involved in local food growing in Liverpool… We’ll be adding the suggested locations to our local food map shortly…light3

Thanks to the organisers of LightNight, the Bluecoat, the volunteers who helped out on the night and, of course to everyone who came along!
